Off to See the Wizard – Part 2

Hi ho. Sebastian here taking up the story where Ginger left out. Yep, you read that right. She left some bits out. And as a dutiful blogger, I am going to fill in the holes as best I can.

She told me ages ago she went to The Land of Oz when she was much younger – back in the 70’s. I thought Oz was just in storybooks but she convinced me that she had been. Imagine my surprise when she told me that once a year in October, you can actually go to Oz!

“And can you see Dorothy and Toto? And the Scarecrow? And the Tin Man? And maybe even the Lion?”
She assured me that “Yes, you can see all the characters – maybe even a witch!”
“Let’s go! Let’s go! Let’s go!” I begged. Well, I actually didn’t have to beg much because I think she wanted to go anyway.

The first person we met was Dorothy and Toto. They were very kind and we got our picture taken.

She invited us to visit her house and meet Auntie Em. On the way, we came across a fortune teller.

What a friendly gentleman he was but I don’t think he could really tell fortunes.

The path to Dorothy’s was winding. I started to wonder about all these twisty paths.

Then we came across this lady all dressed in black saying she was looking for Toto. Thankfully, we left our To-To at home. Whew! She consented to let me have my picture made with her so I think she was really nice under all those black clothes. Maybe the sun was in her eyes that caused her to look sort of cross.

I knew we were getting close to Dorothy’s house when we met up with her and the farmhands. What a nice group of guys.

otstw_4a

I especially liked them because they looked like they were having a lot of fun! Can you see me perched on the rake?

otstw_4b

We finally got to Dorothy’s house. They had a lot of visitors!

otstw_5

This rusty fellow was in the yard. He looked like he had been there for years. Do you see any resemblance to yours truly sitting on his knee?

otstw_6

It’s a very neat house inside – everything’s in order. Do you see Auntie Em in the back?

otstw_7

We got to meet her close up. It’s no wonder Dorothy loves her so. She is very nice.

Then we heard a storm brewing. We rushed into the cellar. Ginger said it sounded like a tornado to her but I wouldn’t know as I have never seen or heard a tornado before. It was very dark in the cellar and it sounded very windy outside!

Oops! I think I heard the crinkle of a cookie wrapper. Let me check this out and I’ll return next time with the best of the story – I mean the rest of the story of our Journey to Oz.

Yours truly,

  1. Sebastian, don't get caught up in that tornado and get whirled up into the sky!!!
Dorothy looks so nice you are very lucky to have your picture takes with her. There is a slight resemblance to the tin man... Not sure??? I think it might be around the head. I can't wait for next week.

  2. Hi Sebastian,

Great story. Be careful, little friend, wearing that "Tin Man" hat in a storm, you don't want to get hurt by a lightening bolt.

I think Tin Man is smiling 'cause you are sitting with him and making friends with him. Bet he doesn't see many teddy bear visitors.

    1. Hi Prudence,

I didn't think about attracting a lightning bolt! Eek! Oh well, I think we'll be okay. The Tin Man was very cool - he seemed almost real.

      hugs,
      Sebastian

  4. Ooh, thread racks and rakes, they do perch us on the most uncomfortable things to get our photos taken on! Still, the natives of Oz looked friendly...
