Sittin’ and Strummin’

Hi ho! Sebastian here once again. Last year I attended the first IBMA (International Bluegrass Music Association) Wide Open festival. I’m a big fan of all kinds of music and when they have an international festival right here where I live, I like to be a part of it to show my support for my hometown of Raleigh, NC. This year our Sir Walter Raleigh icon got an even bigger decoration although I was a little bit disappointed that someone stole his banjo this time around. Go figure. Anyway, can you see me?

How about now? Yes, that’s me. I thought I would bring out my banjo for the occasion. You didn’t know I played the banjo, did you?

Now the interesting part about this particular stage is that it was created by artist Bland Hoke who works with reclaimed and recycled materials. And the materials for this particular artwork? Hundreds of banjo parts that failed quality control inspections. Is that cool or what?

Here I am sitting in one of the banjo hoops strumming on my own banjo. It was wonderful. The sound was exceptional.

It was a great weekend for bluegrass music fans from across the globe. Now I have to put my banjo away because I am off on another adventure soon and I need to rest my paws before I hit the road again. See you ‘round the bend!

love & hugs,

  1. Around what bend, Sebastian? You know what "around the bend" means don't you? Ask Miss Ginger, I am certain she has been there once or twice. Giggle. My Mom has - in fact she can find it with her eyes closed. That is all I am saying....

    Great pictures of you.

    Hugs,
    Prudence ♥

  2. I didn't know you played the banjo but then again, seems like you can do anything when you put your mind to it. Very interesting about the stage being made out of old banjo parts. Good luck on your next adventure and keep on strummin'!

  4. Heyho Seb Baby,

We've been see in ya hummin' and a strummin' on your ol' banjo. How did you get a banjo in your size? We are jealous.

We are stuck in Florence for another night, 'cos there are storms up north and we can't leave. So tomorrow instead of Amsterdam and the quickly to Manchester we're off to Zurich early and then hours n hours later we fly home to Manchester. The staff are NOT happy, 'cos they are running a charity dance tomorrow evening and now they're going to be late. Thank goodness for friends who have stepped into the breach.

    Be in touch again soon,

    Hugs,

    Jock and Zeke

PS did you get our postcard from Florence?
